ACES provides substance abuse evaluations for adolescents and adults mandated for an evaluation by their school, employer or the criminal justice system. This is a rapid response service in that evaluations are performed within 72 hours of the client’s initial contact with ACES.
Evaluations consist of up to a 2-hour clinical interview, drug test, communication with all necessary third parties (school, employer, attorney, probation/parole officers etc.), and a letter stating the evaluation findings and treatment recommendations.
The evaluations are conducted by a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) The LCADC is the maximum credential available for any professional providing substance abuse evaluations and treatment.
At the conclusion of the evaluation, clients are provided with a document stating the evaluation findings and related treatment recommendations. Based on the client’s level of substance involvement, treatment recommendations may include any of the following:
If a client is recommended for individual or early intervention group counseling, he or she can obtain these services at ACES. If for any reason the client prefers to receive treatment elsewhere, or if the client is recommended to a level of care that ACES does not provide, we will assist the client in finding a more appropriate treatment provider.
At ACES, we provide individual and group counseling for the treatment of substance abuse. If you (or a loved one) are recommended for either of these options, treatment can begin right away.
Individual counseling for substance abuse is scheduled 1-2 times per week depending on the client’s needs. It continues for as long as it takes the client to demonstrate a drug and alcohol free lifestyle. Family members, including parents or spouses (depending on the age of the client), are always part of the treatment process and are periodically invited to participate in the client’s counseling sessions. Drug testing is an essential part of substance abuse treatment and is conducted routinely throughout the treatment process.
Early Intervention Group for substance abuse meets 2 times per week for 7 weeks, totaling 14 group sessions. Two of the sessions are designated “multi-family” group and involve the family members of each group participant. Group participants learn about the disease model of addiction and related strategies for self-motivation, breaking destructive behavior patterns, healthy coping skills, and getting needs met through a substance free lifestyle. Drug testing is an essential part of substance abuse treatment and is conducted twice over the course of the 14 group sessions.
ACES recognizes that the families and friends of a person who misuses substances suffer a burden of their own, even more so when their substance misusing loved one refuses to change his/her behavior. ACES offers CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training), a research proven program whose goals are to teach skills to the family and friends to take care of him/herself, to teach skills to the family and friends to help their loved one change, and to reduce substance misuse regardless of whether the loved one engages in formal treatment or not.
Your privacy and confidentiality is always our top priority. Evaluation findings and treatment recommendations (including drug test results) are only disclosed to individuals for whom you have given us written permission to communicate with. The only exception to this rule of confidentiality is in cases of the risk of suicidal or homicidal behavior or child abuse.
The cost of the Rapid Response Substance Abuse Evaluation includes up to a 2-hour clinical interview, drug test, contact with all necessary third parties (school, employer, attorney, probation/parole officers etc.), and a letter stating the evaluation findings and treatment recommendations. Clients are responsible for making payment at the time of the evaluation.
Clients with traditional indemnity insurance or any type of out-of-network coverage, are eligible for insurance reimbursement for the cost of the evaluation. Clients are encouraged to speak to their insurance provider prior to their evaluation to determine the exact nature of their policy, the proper protocol for submitting claims and the expected reimbursement rate.
